Breathing New Life into the DYK
CONTENT DEVELOPMENT | PRINT DESIGN | SALES ENABLEMENT
A clear and bold heading
Sylvamo’s monthly Did You Know? (DYK) direct mail pieces had seen several years of success, but the format needed refreshing. Instead of retiring the DYK, Sylvamo partnered with Trekk to revamp it into a magazine experience for long-time DYK subscribers and new audiences.
It's hard to say goodbye
The original DYK was a monthly direct mail subscription that covered various print and paper topics. By the end of the year, subscribers would have 12 DYKs to collect in that year’s DYK binder.
Sylvamo needed a new format that would maintain the utility of the original DYK, demonstrate what Accent Opaque — the company's premium paper brand — is capable of, and provide an engaging experience to subscribers.
A clear and bold heading
Ultimately, a new format was chosen — Did You Know? would become a quarterly print magazine from Sylvamo with several articles and features focused on a theme, rather than a single article on the chosen topic.
The glow-up
The first two issues of the new DYK featured interviews with print and paper experts, high-quality photography and behind-the-scenes info on print application samples, spotlights on graphic designers, and a question and answer section, all topped off with a curated Spotify playlist to go along with the issue’s theme.
The new and improved DYK magazine reached creatives, marketers, printers, and other end users, in addition to being the ideal sales tool for Sylvamo's sales team to demonstrate the benefits of printing on Accent.
The response to the new DYK Magazine has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s a fun form factor and, most importantly, it shows off the extremely high quality of Accent Opaque.
