Bringing the Showroom to the Sales Meeting with Virtual Reality

A clear and bold heading
Fuji America needed a way to showcase its smart factory machinery at tradeshows and in sales meetings, so they worked with Trekk to create a virtual showroom.

360° degrees of smart manufacturing
Fuji America Corporation is a market-leading manufacturer and supplier of surface-mount technology (SMT) pick-and-place solutions, as well as smart factory software. The company’s advanced technology automates the process of mounting electronic components on printed circuit boards (PCBs). To demonstrate what sets Fuji’s machinery apart from the competition, we created a virtual reality experience that could be used to transport anyone — from a lead on a tradeshow floor to a prospect in a sales meeting — to the showroom for an up-close-and-personal view of the equipment.

A clear and bold heading
To create this VR experience, we first captured 360-degree video footage of Fuji’s facility along with three individual Fuji machines and the Fuji Command Center, an innovative software solution that acts as the main hub of the smart factory.

A well-crafted, guided experience
We used our 360-degree footage to craft an experience that begins in the lobby of Fuji’s facility. The user can “walk around” the space and choose equipment to inspect more closely. When exploring an individual product, the user can use buttons with the experience to “start” the equipment, zoom in on different areas of the machinery, read more about the equipment and its technical specs, and even look “under the hood” to watch the machine run from the inside.
The experience included concise voiceover, which pointed out features and benefits of each machine, but it was designed to be usable without sound as well to still provide value on the tradeshow floor.
This VR experience took innovative machinery that was difficult to demo and made it accessible to anyone with a VR headset. Putting some of our cameras inside the equipment was a special touch that brought the UX to the next level, making it not just informative but really fun.
